Listen, dipshit, the point is that when people suddenly want to talk about how sexist XYZ thing that’s not from their culture is, it’s usually self-righteous and motivated by a misplaced and racist sense of superiority that is predicated on ignoring that their own damn culture is super fucking sexist too AND, as a bonus, usually involves erasing feminists from that culture by assuming that only their (usually white, USAmerican) brilliance can perceive the isms.

Instead of the offended backlash I expected, I had one guy apologize to me and say, "I had no idea how hard it was to be a woman or to not be white" and promise he wouldn't act that way anymore. Other people also praised me and promised to think things through more. I'm pretty shocked but happy.
